According to Abu Said, a man came and said to the Prophet (salallahu 'alayhi wa salam):
"My brother has a stomach ache.
- Give him some honey to drink, replied the Prophet (salallahu 'alayhi wa salam).
The man returned again and the Prophet said:
- Give him some honey to drink.
The man returned again and said:
- I have done as you advised.
- Allah has spoken the truth, then cried the Prophet (salallahu 'alayhi wa salam), it is your brother's belly that has lied.
- Give him honey to drink.
The sick man was made to drink honey, and he recovered."

Here's another hadith on the importance of honey:
Ibn Abbas reports that the Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alayhi wa salam) said:
"Healing is based on three things: the sip of honey, the incision of the cupping, and the burning of the cautery, but I forbid my Community the cautery."
