Talbina and depression

Muslims attribute talbina with benefits for reducing or wiping out the symptoms of depression and sadness, a disease that is increasingly prevalent throughout the world and especially in France.

This is explained by the existence of a sacred text, a hadith, which mentions this unique property for a food that is quite easily found on the market.

Let's discover together the correlation between talbina and depression

The hadith on depression

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said that whenever someone close to her died, the women would gather for condolences and then disperse (return to their homes) with the exception of her relatives and close friends.

She (may Allah have mercy on her) would order a large pot of talbina to be cooked.

Then Tharid (a dish prepared from meat and bread) was prepared and talbina was poured over it. Aisha (Radiallahu anha) would invite her family to eat, saying:

"Eat of it, for I have heard the Messenger (ﷺ) say, "Talbina soothes the patient's heart and relieves him of some of his sadness."

Authentic Hadith reported by al-Bukhari (5417) and Muslim (2216).

The minerals talbina contains

The attention-grabbing minerals in talbina are potassium and magnesium.

It has been scientifically proven that too little potassium leads to depression, mental disorders and irritability. Since talbina contains potassium, it can help make up for this deficiency.

Magnesium has been shown to reduce the risk of depression.

Magnesium has proved in clinical trials to be just as interesting as certain classes of antidepressants, while containing no side effects. Be careful, however, to dose it correctly so that your digestive system is not affected.

Talbina vitamins against depression

Talbina has the advantage of containing vitamin E and vitamin A.

They are known to be antioxidants and to have an activity on the brain that enables them to act directly on the acute symptoms of depression.

Although they are not present in exceptional quantities unlike other foods, the fact of their presence added to the other nutrients makes them a non-negligible strength.

Tryptophan: the key nutrient

Tryptophan is an amino acid known to help restore sleep and treat depressive symptoms. Once again, it's a nutrient found in talbina.

Through its action on serotonin stimulation, this nutrient is considered key in the recovery of anyone suffering from depression, anxiety and stress.

Beyond the chemical factors and causes you can do to get better, don't forget to consult a doctor if you want to know about your physical health, which may have a direct link with your current mental health.

Even if this isn't conclusive, it will be a lead eliminated that may allow you to move forward in your quest for healing.
